Context

Adobe Premiere Pro’s New Color Experience is a next-generation color grading system aimed at replacing legacy Lumetri workflows and improving usability for both professional colorists and general editors.

Problem

Existing color workflows were complex, unintuitive, and fragmented, requiring steep learning curves (nodes, layers, multiple panels) and slowing down users especially non-experts who are trying to achieve high-quality color results quickly.

Goal

Design a simplified, intuitive, and high-performance color workflow that enables users to achieve professional-grade results faster, while increasing adoption and reducing dependency on external tools.

My Role

Led end-to-end UX design and interaction design for a new color grading experience in Adobe Premiere Pro. The feature is to be showcased at NAB Las Vegas 2026.

Helped drive beta launch, user research, and feature delivery for Adobe’s next-gen color experience, impacting 240+ private beta users.

Defined PLG strategy, on-boarding and help patterns to intuitively help users understand the new color paradigm.

Validated solutions through iterative research and close collaboration with engineering, product, and industry colorists.

Outcome

Achieved 80.6% user satisfaction with strong positive sentiment and high usability scores (~4.0–4.48/5) across core features.

Validated product direction with high adoption intent (up to 95% preference over legacy tools in some testing cohorts).
